Description
This one day tour represents an amazing way to visit Tuscany and some of its most famous highlights: the well renowned City of Pisa, Siena and S. Gimignano, and the Chianti area.
We will enjoy a panoramic drive where you will see hilltop hamlets or little churches (they will appear as impressionistic sketches by the window) heading from the hillsides towards the coast, to arrive in Pisa. Upon arrival, we will get off the coach to reach the famous Field of Miracles, a green grass field overwhelmed by the white buildings of the Cathedral or Duomo, the Baptistery (exquisite examples of Pisan Romanesque architecture) and the dazzling Leaning Tower. This marvel is almost 56 meters tall (about 183 ft) and leans at about 4 degrees: in the centuries, it has become one of the most iconic building of the world. You will have time to take creative photographs, wander off down the local street or simply revel in it, before coming back to the coach.
After this enjoyable morning, it is time to go to of San Gimignano and try a delicious and traditional Tuscan lunch! What can be better of a family run wine-farm in the heart of Tuscan, at almost a stone’s throw from Siena. You will remain delighted by their fresh homemade products, a real heaven for foodies! You can taste handmade pasta and cured meats, salad and typical local cheese, all served with plenty of wine from the region: Vernaccia white wine from San Gimignano and Chianti wines. Later, we will discover the Unesco World Heritage Site of San Gimignano, which will represents a real jump in the past, because of its medieval town planning, with something else that can appear familiar… It is in fact called the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages”. Tall and narrow old towers create a skyline that reminds us some modern cities…you will be truly fascinated! You will have enough free time to stroll around the town, either to enjoy the atmosphere of the cobbled stone streets or indulge in some charming craftsman’s shops.
After a pleasant drive through the Chianti vineyards, we will arrive in Siena, where you can wander around the pedestrian-friendly heart of this beautiful hilltop town. Our local guide will welcome us and will take us on a tour along the small medieval streets and squares, up to reach the spectacular Cathedral. Along the walk, prepare yourself to be astonished by the view of the palace that houses the oldest bank in the world and by the wonderful Piazza del Campo, site of the famous 600-year-old Palio horse-race. We will also give you some free time to explore the city at your own pace, before coming back to the bus.
Finally,
At the end of this tour, we are sure you shall be awe inspired for the rest of your holidays!
