Description
This Marble and Super Tuscan wine shore excursion will start directly from your Pier in La Spezia, where you will meet with your personal English speaking driver and tour leader.
With the “White Tour” you will discover the secret aspect of Tuscany: the great production of excellent white wine! You will experience a breath-taking drive through the marble road and enjoy the view of tiny medieval villages situated on top of green hills.
Our first stop will be in an ancient wine estate in Luni, where you will meet the passionate owners of the estate, visit the property and discover the key for the best artisan wines. You will also visit the wine Museum with ancient tools and works of art while learning about the history and the traditions of the wine makers’ culture. After a visit of the beautiful vineyards, you will enter the cellar to begin your special guided wine tasting.
You will try four DOC wines (Red wines too) combined with fresh brushettas with extra-virgin olive oil, focaccia bread and delicious Tuscan olives.
After your wine experience, you will reach Carrara, home of the marble, the white gold. Here you will have a guided tour to learn the history of marble, the different techniques and tools used to extract it. You will also learn about the cave where Michelangelo selected the blocks to produce stunning masterpieces.
The last stop of your shore excursion is Colonnata: the only village to produce the acclaimed IGP Colonnata Lard, which is aged and seasoned inside of marble tanks. Here, you will have free time to explore the beautiful village, and maybe search its “fist citizen”: a regal peacock that generally walks around the Church dedicated to the quarrymen.
