After a drive of less than 1 hour, we’ll arrive in Carrara, the town renowned all over the world for its extraordinary white marble. Our tour will start in the oldest Art&Sculpture open-air Marble museum of Carrara marble caves, where you’ll find an amazing collection. After having learned some secrets of the carving technique and observed some celebrated models, you’ll be willing to see the famous caves! We’ll reach the central marble basin where you’ll have different options to discover the world of Carrara marble quarries as well as the excavation system employed nowadays. There will be also the possibility to taste their typical cold cut (i.e. Lardo di Colonnata).
The tour continues in Pietrasanta, following the Apuan-Alps marble leit-motiv. In fact, Pietrasanta has been developing, for years, the artistic exploitaton of the marble stone. For this reason, it is nowadays cradle of sculptors coming from all over the world. Moreover, you’ll be truly delighted by the view of the Duomo Square, where churches and old towers create a very harmonic balance.

Follow the visit of Lucca, an enchanting walled little city, 40 minutes far away the previous town. Founded by the Romans, it later became the Longobards’ capital in the central part of Italy. This town is well-known because of its urban structure that truly witnesses all the historical developments. Completely surrounded by sturdy walls dating back to the 15th century, it’s a real jewel and houses elegant palaces and wonderful churches.
