We’ll reach San Gimignano, one of the most famous Tuscan hamlets, renowned for its ancient towers that form a picturesque skyline. In about 2 hours you can enjoy a pleasant walk in the typical tiny medieval streets. Entering from the main gate – Porta S. Giovanni- you can discover the two main squares. Piazza della Cisterna and the Collegiata square. This is where all the pilgrims used to stop and where the merchants exchanged their goods in the medieval times.
After the visit of S. Gimignano, we’ll then head toward a typical Chianti wine estate where you’ll have a chance to taste some of the best Chianti classico riserva wines combined with bruschetta, salami, cheese, biscuits and sweet dessert wine, surrounded by the beauty of the sweet Tuscan hills.
After this joyful and tasty stop, we’ll follow to Volterra village which is even older than the previous one. In fact, this village bears important witnesses to its Etruscan foundation and it can also boast elegant and beautiful Medieval buildings, as well as Roman remains in the surroundings. Perched high up on a hill top, the town offers a spectacular view of olive groves and vineyards. Volterra is famous for the Alabaster stone: similar to the marble, but much more transparent. In fact the Cathedral has alabaster instead of windows. Here you can discover how the alabaster is worked in one of the big craftsmen studios.
